Rehearsals - Page 2
Special New Year's Eve Release (Dec. 31st)
Last Updated: January 7, 2007 Can you believe it? These are the last two pages of the entire website. I really outdid myself this time and hope that you will read (volutarily of course) all of my commentary. I saved the best for last which is why I dicided over a month ago that this was to be the last album! I though that remembering all of our hard work was the best way to wrap up this year. After you are done here, be sure to see page 3 for the Senior Night Rehearsal!
This first group of pictures brings back something old...moving GIFS! I create these by using a setting on my camera that captures 11 still frames in several seconds. On the computer, I place them in a continuous loop to create the moving GIFs! I also tried something different. There are now two versions of each picture that move at different speeds. You can decide for yourself which speed that you like better. If your computer cannot load the images quickly enough, you may try to saving them.
As for the content, these pictures capture very important things added to the show during the season. The first six are of the brass triangle featured during the bicycle race. These are the first attempts of kneel, march, and lunge maneuver that Mr. Reed taught to the students. The following four moving images are of the flute circle at the beginning of Bohemian. Mr. Reed was teaching them a new kneel and slide just days before the Arcadia Tournament. Enjoy!
Here are four more pictures taken the same day as the ones above.
So here's the hardest thing about my job: I can't be in the band and get photos of the ensemble at the same time. On one particular sunny morning, I just couldn't resist stepping out of warm-up arcs to get these next four. I later got in trouble for doing this so I hope you appreciate them!
The next block are pictures taken at night. As any good photographer knows, nighttime is an especially difficult time in deciding whether or not to use a flash. Personally, I am against using flash because it makes the lighting so unnatural. (Plus it hurts your eyes!) The drawback to this, however, is that not every shot comes out perfectly. Many of the nighttime pictures all over the website have been hand-picked for perfection. :)
The very first picture is of my very own clarinet section! We were lined up to recieve our secret pals just a few days prior to the Mt. Carmel Tournament. In the second and third rows you will also see the long lines of instruments on the Front Hash. This was one of the few times that we were given a break after setting up at the beginning of the fourth movement. Finally, check out Andy and the moon in the last row. I laid down on the field for this one...
Rank practice at 7:30 AM. On a Monday. And you thought that normal rehearsals were long? I personally think that the tuba line has the best spacing...
As anyone will tell you, it's essential to have good friends. I got to know these two section leaders a lot better this year, and I'm glad that I did. Thanks, Nafisah and Danielle, for making this year so great! (I'm really sorry about the lighting issues.)
Now here are some daytime photos. These are no-brainers folks. If you can push a button, than you can take daytime pictures. The one thing that you should recall, though, is that it was very hot outside for most of the season which made these rehearsals long and tedious. As a watch wearer, I consistantly recieved twenty, "What time is it?"s per day. I am especially proud of this one.
The Flutes! A section that I am both extremely envious of and annoyed by. Anyway, here they are posing a few hours before the Vista Tournament. Their funny picture is pretty cool!
Lastly, these two were taken on the night of our final rehearsal. For more info, please visit Nov. 17th on the Log page. The first picture is of Melissa and Shellby, both freshman this year. You may remember Melissa who took pictures for me at the Mt. Carmel Tournament! The second is of me and my good friend Joey. He was a senior Pit section leader last year and continued to visit us throughout the season. Thanks for everything Joey!
