Last Updated: December 29, 2006 As any good bando knows, the marching season officially ends when the fun begins. Not to say that roll-stepping until your calves ache or playing until your chops are sore isn't enjoyable, but the big end-of-the season trip is much more stress-free! This year, our competition at the Arcadia Festival of Bands was followed by a one-night stay at the Embassy Suites and a day at Six Flags Magic Mountain!
At 10:30 PM on Saturday, Nov. 18th, the Emerald Brigade invaded the Embassy Suites Hotel. Having been given our room numbers, we took control of the four elevators and flooded into each of the seven floors. Once inside our rooms, various activities took place (results may vary): Admiration of the furniture, unpacking, arguments over beds, fights with cylindrical pillows found on beds, watching both of the two tvs, and for the smart few, plugging music players into the back of the clock radio with speakers.
Outside in the halls, on all seven floors, could be seen bandos lined up on all sides running all around to visit and look across the vast lobby. Take a look here... Then I saw the directors below with a parent holding 4 pizza boxes and I thought, "Man, I can't believe they're having a party without me!" To my surprise, however, it turned out that each room was delivered a pizza by a hardworking parent chaparone. Hopefully you all were smart enough to use the microwave!
The next morning at 7 AM, our breakfast was served in a banquet hall exclusively for the band. I really can't say much for the food, but it was really cool to be able to around and say hello to everyone! Then, everyone hurried off back to their rooms, packed, (took soap, shampoo, paper, and pens as souvenirs), and headed outside the hotel to load the buses. At approximately 9 AM, the buses departed for Six Flags...
We arrived around 10 AM and everyone divided off into their own groups of friends to tour the park. The next pictures are some from my own excursions around with Keenan and some other friends. However, I also spent quality time with my camera to capture some shots that I consider to be very artisitic! I would appreciate if you would not save anything from this point forth. Please ask for my permission. Thanks!
It was a nice surprise to see Mr. Cook, Mr. Sybilski, and Mr. Crooks for the second time that day at the Mooseburger Cafe. We had also met them riding Gold Rusher earlier that day.
